Mr. Joe Ginotti is a highly respected expert in adolescent literacy. His experience as Director of the Penn Literacy Network and Director of Curriculum at West Deptford Township School District provides him a wealth of knowledge that he shares with educators throughout Pennsylvania. His workshops provide teachers across the state with quality professional learning opportunities that continue to be highly sought after. Intermediate Unit 1 is delighted to be able to bring this opportunity to our region, and we look forward to hosting the workshop here in southwestern Pennsylvania!

Participants in Effective Classroom Strategies in Reading an Writing to Build Content Literacy will actively engage in learning experiences that are rich in problem-solving, critical thinking, and logical reasoning. Participants will discuss how to adapt these approaches for all students and learn how to engage students in transacting and composing text. Learning activities will be provided that encourage students to more effectively process and reflect on their own learning of any content. Close reading, argumentative writing, and active learning environments that nurture these skills will be included in the two-day workshop.
This is a two, nonconsecutive-day workshop being held on and . The time between sessions allows teachers to embed their learning into practice, network with Joe and other teachers from the workshop, and bring their learnings back for the second session of the training. Due to the interactive nature of the workshop, it will be limited to 60 participants.
