On , the IU1 Educational Campuses at Clark and Colonial held the first of many Educational Campus Challenge Series. A basketball game was held as the first challenge series, where students and staff from each school gathered to cheer on their team at the Brownson House in Washington, PA.

With over 150 spectators in attendance, the gym was packed and everyone was engaged in the day’s activities. The Colonial Phoenixes and the Clark Crusaders faced off in two basketball games in front of their cheering fans. Students got creative and made their own mascots, signs, and puppets to show their school spirit. As the music played in between games, students and staff from both schools were dancing and having fun. Also in between games, students had the opportunity to test their luck at mini challenge events, including the three-point shot and half court shot. Although many came close to making the half court shot, there was no victor. However, a student from Clark won the three-point competition making ten shots in under 60 seconds.
The day was not just about the spirit of competition, but of sportsmanship and giving back. Each school brought in canned goods to be donated to the local Washington County Food Bank. Colonial and Clark both played outstanding games and demonstrated even better sportsmanship. IU1 Assistant Executive Director Donald Martin said, “What an outstanding event for the entire IU1 organization. This is an excellent example of what collaboration and teamwork can do. We are so proud of our students and staff at both Clark and Colonial for their school spirit and hard work. It was a very rewarding experience for all involved.”
At the end of the day all team members from Clark and Colonial were awarded medals for participating in the first of many IU1 Educational Challenge Series. However, the Colonial Phoenixes won both games and received the IU1 Educational Challenge Series Plaque that will remain in their school until the next challenge event. IU1 would like to thank all the students, staff, and those who made the day such a success.
