Intermediate Unit 1 is currently accepting applications for the Emergency Substitute Teacher Program.
This program is designed for individuals with a Bachelor’s Degree, but that are not certified teachers, to become trained and certified as an emergency day-to-day substitute teacher.
Application packets for the training session that begins in , must be received by no later than . Candidates that are selected for an interview will be contacted by the Human Resources Department. Candidates selected for the program must be available for both session dates, which are scheduled to take place on , and , from 8:00 am–12:00 pm at the IU1 Center for Professional Development in California, PA (750 Orchard St.).

Current Act 34 Clearance—Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance (not older than one year)
This clearance can be completed online at https://epatch.state.pa.us.
Current Act 114 Clearance—FBI Criminal Record Clearance—Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Only (not older than one year).
You must register for this clearance at http://www.pa.cogentid.com. This site will provide locations where you can have your fingerprints taken. The IU1 Central Office is a fingerprinting site. The operating times can be found at http://www.iu1.org/services/fingerprinting.
Note: You must register under the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). No other FBI Criminal Record Clearance will be accepted.
Current Act 151 Clearance—Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance (not older than 1 year)
